Breakfast With Santa Foundation®

Annual General Meeting January 27, 2024

With 39 years of experience in the not-for-profit charity industry, we have acquired the experience, knowledge, and measurable competence in helping to reduce child hunger in our communities of Peel Region never forgetting:

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We positively impact the lives of children in distress in our community.

OUR VISION

To be a portal of hope to the enhancement to a child’s quality of life.

OUR MANDATE

Offering nutritional solutions to childhood hunger and life skills programming.

AND OUR SLOGAN

One smile at a Time.

As an all-volunteer run organization we foster collaboration with like-minded community groups in our quest to progressively address child hunger and poverty.

In 2023 we welcomed North Wood Public School in Brampton to the roster of three schools we help through our “A Snack at a Time” Program. Hundreds of coats, hats, mitts, and socks were delivered to schools, homeless shelters and encampments in Mississauga and Brampton. Warm clothing was delivered to asylum seekers, refugees and homeless.

We assisted three families, by providing grocery gift cards, who were desperately battling hunger.

Breakfast With Santa Foundation hosted two “A Morning with Santa” Christmas Breakfasts where 220 families attended an “in person” celebration of warmth, love, fun, excitement, and children received an amazing gift from Santa. Approximately 400 gifts were distributed overall in December.

We overcame challenging situations post-Covid and empty promises. We never believed it couldn’t be done!

Our outstanding volunteers and board of directors worked miracles. Their passion, resilience, and commitment to fight hunger in children and their families is inspiring.

Our long-standing partners, donors and supporters continued encouraging our work with their support and, along the year, we welcomed additional partnerships. They are extremely instrumental in the realization of our dream – to end childhood hunger.

A New Year is upon us and, unfortunately, the need for food is raising its ugly head more so than ever!

This year our A Snack at a Time Program will see one additional school in Mississauga join our roaster of schools we help. We are estimating this program will cost between $24,000 and $25,000.

We will need to budget for our Backpacks 4 Kids Program ($2,000) and for the Coats 4 Kids Program ($3,000).

Babies and toddlers are ending up at walk-in-clinics with severe diaper rash due to the fact families are not able to afford diapers and keep those sweet angels in soiled diapers for days at a time. We will need to supply more diapers to families in need through our Baby Layette Program ($3,000).

According to Outreach Workers we work with children start looking forward to our “A Morning with Santa Christmas Breakfasts” in the beginning of November. This is a program families treasure and are so very grateful when they are able to attend!

The program is scheduled for a Saturday or Sunday in December – this year we are aiming for December 14 or 22. A morning designed with families in mind who otherwise would not have the opportunity to have a Christmas Season consists of:

  • A nutritious and delicious brunch – cost $6,000 – $6,980 per breakfast
  • The puppet show has children and adults alike come alive with smiles and euphoric participation – cost $1,000 per show
  • Each child receives a beautifully wrapped toy from Santa and Mrs. Claus – cost $2,500 – $3,700 per breakfast

I wish I could say our programs are no longer needed but, unfortunately, I can only say they are needed more than ever in 2024. Hunger should never afflict anyone, especially children. It takes a village, and we are a very passionate member of that village. We will continue our work, One Smile at a Time”.
